Utopia \yu̇-ˈtō-pē-ə\ often capitalized: a place of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions.
The goal of Cajun Catopia, is to create a “Utopia” for cats. A world that is a safe haven for cats, through sanctuary, spay/neuter programs and public education..
Cajun Catopia was “officially” established July 20, 2008 as a result of a life long dream, and a very special event called The Boundless Living 45 Day Challenge.
It is still a work in progress, as it has been for the past several years, working toward the following goals:
Development and implementation of a low (and/or) zero cost spay/neuter program in Houma, Louisiana and surrounding areas for cats, which also does not have many of the current restrictions (causing the “total” vet bill to be so high). The primary goal of this program will be to help families (or neighborhoods, in the case of feral cat colonies) who can not afford to spay/neuter their pets, do so, which in turn helps to reduce the overpopulation of stray, homeless, abandoned and abused cats.
Development of this website for the program, to serve as an information center, as well as providing education to the public at large on the importance of spay/neuter, cat care, resources, etc.
This website will also lay the ground work and starting point for our long term goal, which is to also build a Cat Sanctuary.
